4D & 5D simulations help project management and its forecasting

The use of visualization and animations 4D helps to gain a better understanding of the project. Phasing simulations, created to understand time-based processes, enables clients to foresee issues and assess potential solutions. 4D links the 3D model with the time factor of the construction schedule. In BIMeng we link each item or activity to a Gantt diagram generated with software such as Microsoft Project or Privamera to the 3D model.

The 4D model shows the construction sequence plan set against time. The aim of the phasing simulation is to assist the construction team in visualizing possible issues or inefficiencies. The simulation improves management and information exposing situations such as out-of sequence work, modifications impacts, scheduling conflicts between multiple trades, all in order to achieve the optimization of the construction schedule.

The fifth dimension 5D is cost added to the virtual building 4D.

5D is an integration of design with estimating, scheduling and costing, including generation of Bills of Quantities, and derivation of productivity rates and labour costs. We Offer clients the chance to explore several different scenarios. Cost estimates can be linked to the BIM model so that a change in the design would be immediately reflected in the budget and program. We provide the project teams with resource-loaded schedules, accurate cash flow forecasts, detailed project risk analyses, and even resource forecasts for major subcontractors.

For a better understanding and communication throughout the project life the use of virtual resources such as renders, walks through and virtual reality are equally as important as generation 3D BIM. BIMeng can generate photorealistic images and animations for your project. From an existing BIM model, with the appropriate visualization software package we can export the aforesaid model and create the desired view or promenade. We make use of virtual reality goggles to offer our client a more realistic approach to the possible conflicts, outcomes and solutions.
